Social Psychologist and Harvard Business Professor Amy Cuddy has galvanized tens of millions of viewers around the world with her TED Talk “Your Body Language Shapes Who You Are” in which she discusses how “power posing” – standing in a posture of confidence, even when we don’t feel confident – can affect testosterone and cortisol levels in the brain, and might even have an impact on our chances for success.

Dr. Cuddy wasn’t supposed to become a scientist. Early in her career she suffered a head injury from which doctors said her mental capacity would never recover. She persevered, proved them wrong, and now her research on how people judge and influence others and themselves has been covered by top academic journals and news sources such as Time, Forbes, Tech Insider, New York Times, and the National Post. You can watch her story here.

Cuddy’s research suggests that judgments along two critical trait dimensions – warmth/trustworthiness and competence/power – shape social interactions, determining such outcomes as who gets hired and who doesn’t, when we are more or less likely to take risks, why we admire, envy, or disparage certain people, elect politicians, or even target minority groups for genocide.

Dr. Cuddy was recently featured in Business Insider in an article about tips that shy people can use to ace a job interview. You can check out that valuable article here and hear her tips and tricks live in person when she takes to the Sony Centre stage on March 3.

In An Evening with Amy Cuddy, Dr. Cuddy will weave together storytelling, science and practical advice on how to flourish during stressful times by harnessing the power of ‘presence’.  Attendees will learn how to approach their biggest challenges with confidence instead of dread, and achieve satisfaction instead of regret as well as connect with and empower others to do the same.
