What you'll be doing

• Providing leadership and direction to the Product Development Team to enable them to deliver great product


• Ensuring MEC's product development is delivered on time, on cost and on quality


• Ensuring the skills and knowledge of MEC's Product Development Team is one of the highest in the industry


• Upholding MEC's brand by designing products with quality and integrity in mind


• Incorporating MEC's sourcing policies and social & environmental initiatives into product design


• Forecasting of MEC specific materials, trim developments and raw materials


• Keeping all cross functional team members engaged, informed and aligned

What you need to do it well

• Post-secondary education in Apparel or Industrial Design


• 10-15 years' experience managing a design department


• Demonstrated leadership skills


• Proven ability to manage, coach and develop others


• Design expertise within, or related to, outdoor apparel and product


• Exceptional passion and knowledge for outdoor equipment and the related activities


• Strong technical fabric and garment construction knowledge


• Strong project management, problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills


• Strong interpersonal communication skills – proven success in the ability to develop a credible, trusting rapport with individuals as well as small and large groups of people is a must have


• Entrepreneurial spirit and an egoless nature
