General Summary:

By being hired into a Business Development role at Tech Data Canada, you will be a key member of a new team that is responsible for building and developing a set of accounts and partnerships within your assigned territory. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate that enjoys creating long-term value from customers, relationships, and markets in Retail.

This position requires the majority of your workday to be positioning Tech Data’s vendors and services to key decision makers in both prospect and existing Retail accounts in your territory. The focus will be on individual and team goals by working with your Inside Sales Team and Inside Sales Manager and as assigned by the Director.

The ideal candidate is excited about building sales pipeline opportunities from scratch, and identifying and implementing programs, products and service opportunities within a competitive landscape.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic detailed account business plans to grow sales, profitability and breadth of product and services within accounts. Deliver quarterly business reviews to management, vendors and customers
  • Keep abreast of the industry and technologies to ensure you are a trusted resource to prospects and customers
  • Have a clear understanding of vendor and customer business models, goals and contractual requirements as well as how this aligns with Tech Data’s company vision, values and financial metrics
  • Build relationships with vendor representatives and build strategies for sales and marketing plans that will drive customer sales and meet company objectives for revenue and profitability growth.  Keep management informed by submitting activity and results reporting, weekly and monthly
  • Participate, develop and support market, trade shows and events as needed
  • Build and sustain long term relationships with clients, customers, and vendors by consistently exceeding their expectations, discover new ways to add value, and maintain a sense of urgency to resolve any issues
  • Champion and define processes for forecasting, inventory management, product sell through, returns, promotions, and exit strategies to meet and exceed company metrics and customer requirements
  • Maintain consistent communication and cooperation with all Tech Data departments to ensure business is profitable and minimize operating expenses
  • Create and communicate tactical and strategic initiatives aligned with the direction of the organization and divisional objectives
  • Proposal writing and summarizing new initiatives in a compelling and persuasive manner to win the support of both the customers and vendors

Qualifications & Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or at minimum college degree
  • 3-5 years sales business development experience, with a preference in Retail
  • Project management experience and/or training an asset
  • Proven track record of obtaining and overachievement against quota
  • MS Office, Outlook
  • Presentation skills at all levels within an organization
  • Knowledge of the Telecommunication activation industry
  • Advanced and current knowledge of the IT /CE industry and the ability to apply this knowledge to the Reseller channel, and leverage this of competitors strengths and weaknesses
