WE ARE LOOKING FOR A MARKETING DIRECTOR:

  • to provide strategic direction and oversight to the marketing function in order to deliver on Hallmark Canada's strategic and financial objectives
  • to act as the key strategic link between KC partners and the Canadian team on all facets of marketing, including brand, personalized, shopper, e-commerce and all trade marketing and Hallmark Gold Crown
  • to provide input for market research related to marketing strategy and initiatives, and analyzes resulting data for trends and opportunities
  • to evaluate effectiveness of marketing initiatives in driving consumer participation in the Brand and impacting revenue and profitability goals, incorporating changes as required
  • to oversee all Public Relations and Advertising initiatives for the organization, as well as visual merchandising and French Language Services activities

THE MARKETING DIRECTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Leadership: Hires, leads and develops team in support of personal and professional growth with accountability for financial results for the Greetings and Retail business in Canada.
  • Strategic Planning: Develops and disseminates marketing strategies plans that are consistently focusing on customer, consumer awareness and participation to drive revenue and profitability. Identifies and solves for unique strategies over all types of marketing - brand, personalized, shopper, e-commerce, social media and trade marketing.
  • Advertising & Public Relations: Guides the Company's public relations activities with the goal of establishing and maintaining a favourable image with current and potential customers and consumers, employees and the public. Works closely with customer teams to develop appropriate product positioning
  • Market Research: Provides input, reviews and analyzes market research to identify opportunities and methods to capitalize on potential revenue/profitability. Evaluates data to identify trends, brand awareness and competition ventures to ensure company is maximizing channel and product strategies.
  • Visual Merchandising and French Language Services: Develops/oversees Canadian Visual Merchandising strategies that deliver profitability goals within the overall marketing and brand strategy. Includes evaluating U.S. tools and consulting on unique Canadian needs to meet the channel and marketplace needs. Partners with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent understanding and ability to implement. Oversees all activities related to French Language services, including French translation and French editorial processes and resources. Oversees management of relationship with and activities related to the OLF (office de la Langue francaise).
  • Represents Hallmark Canada:
    • internally with KC head office Marketing peers, stakeholders and with colleagues on the leadership team
    • externally at customer meetings and presentations, and media and industry events
    • with media vendors and publishers to ensure collaboration in promotional activities

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

o Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or Business
o Experience in both wholesale and retail environment required
o 10+ years of increasingly progressive marketing experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Your resume will stand out if you have):

o Blend of experience dealing with both strategic/complex and operational issues

o An MBA with thorough knowledge of strategic planning principles and marketing best practices

o Knowledge of market research techniques, data analysis and statistical methods

o Working knowledge of short and long-term budgeting and marketing profitability analysis.

o Proven experience in the delivery of effective corporate marketing strategies

o Proven ability to bring innovation and effective marketing programs and campaigns to the marketplace.

o Proven people leadership and motivation ability
