Position: Marketing and Communications Coordinator (Contract)
Location: 1 Atkinson Street, Richmond Hill, ON L4C 0H5
Status: Contract (15 months) – Full Time/Non-Union (35 Hours
per/week)
*This position will be required to work evenings and weekends as per schedule and event calendar
Salary Range: 34.50/hr (2014 Salary Rate)
Responsibility and Duties:
- Promotes and sustains a customer-centered focus in marketing and communication services
- Designs, develops, delivers and evaluates strategic marketing and communications services and products, ensuring system-wide coordination
- Promotes, develops and sustains a strong relationship with media partners to
enhance the Library’s community profile and use of services
- Develops long and short term plans to accomplish the Library’s strategic objectives for marketing and communications
- Creates media advisories and releases
- Maintains corporate contact lists
- Delivers and sustains a variety of communications and marketing products that enhance services and the Library’s role and identity in the community
- Develops and maintains social media platforms and coordinates relevant content
- Develops designated Town and community partnerships
- Ensures branding consistency in all publications and graphics, both internal and external
- Coordinates designated library events and displays, both in the Library and at community events
- Evaluates marketing and related initiatives and develops recommendations for change
Actively seeks out opportunities for education and awareness initiatives in the community, and opportunities for positive media coverage
Collaborates with the management team to ensure successful community awareness of the Library and assists with delivery of internal messaging/communication
Contributes to internal education programs, trains and assists staff in developing effective methods of communicating library benefits to customers and potential customers
Makes presentations and represents the Library in the community as required
Monitors and interprets trends in marketing and communications, including those from other organizations, and ensures relevant adaptations
Monitors and interprets service trends, including those from other organizations and recommends relevant adaptations
Evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of assigned service spaces and recommends changes
Assists the Manager on Duty at Central Library
Assists with budget and monitors assigned budgets

Supervises the work of assigned staff
Qualifications/Competencies
University degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or suitable equivalent
Minimum of three years of relevant experience with a sound working knowledge of current professional communication and marketing techniques
Valid Class “G” driver’s license in good standing
Interact and communicate effectively in writing, orally and on the web
Expert computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, database, graphic design and presentation software)
