Job Summary
To provide graphic design, illustration, and layout functions for a variety of print and electronic publishing projects, both editorial and marketing..
Organizational Status
The graphic designer will report to the manager of editorial and production services and will interact and collaborate with other editorial, production, and marketing staff members.
Work Performed
Supervision Received
This person will report to the manager of editorial and production services, who will provide detailed direction on projects during a training period but will then provide general supervision.
Supervision Given
Will liaise with outside suppliers of design elements, such as photographers, and with printers.

Qualifications
Three year Graphic Design program. Minimum of two years experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a book publishing environment preferred. COMPUTER SKILLS: Mac platform, MS Office (Word and Excel), Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Filemaker Pro database program, Dreamweaver, BBEdit or equivalent; familiar with e-book production. OTHER SKILLS: familiar with metadata creation; familiar with image scanning; familiar with standard editorial mark-up conventions. Excellent written communication skills and strong keyboarding are basic requirements of this job. An organized, flexible, detail-oriented individual who can work within a team environment and juggle multiple projects effectively.
