What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is excited about branding and design. You have an eye for the details and a drive to learn. You stay on top of the latest design, social media and marketing trends. You are confident in owning and managing your workload, and work well both independently and collaboratively with the team.
You’ll be working closely with our Design Lead to create beautiful visuals and engaging content, driving measurable exposure to our roster of well deserving clients. Our industry is face-paced, which means that flexibility is key as you will be asked to switch between routine tasks and creative projects regularly, often working with quick turnaround times and tight deadlines.
Role & Responsibilities
Conceptualize, design and produce collateral for all print and digital marketing initiatives
Strategize, design, build and distribute creative and engaging digital newsletters
Work collaboratively with the team to develop exciting concepts for campaigns, events and new brands
Discover and learn about new design, marketing and social media tools
Present and rationalize design decisions
3+ years of graphic design, marketing, or related creative work experience
A strong portfolio of previous work
Experience in identity design, branding and web design
Strong understanding of typography and design principles
Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop)
Experience in web design & marketing tools like Figma, Mailchimp
You have a strong working knowledge of Facebook and Instagram
Strong knowledge of industry best practices
Production skills - preparing artwork for print, and digital use
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with keen attention to details
Great to haves
Photography and editing skills
Knowledge of basic HTML/CSS
Familiarity with Squarespace
Hospitality / restaurant experience
The role is a part-time contract to start (10 hours/week) at $25-30/hour (dependent on experience) with the possibility of the hours increasing and even transitioning into a full-time position. The candidate must be able to work both remotely, and on-site in the SMC office in East Vancouver.
