GRAPHIC DESIGNER

Are you a creative thinker? Do you use print materials and digital marketing to reach a variety of audiences? Are you willing to work flexible hours that fluctuate with project timelines and complexity?
North Vancouver Recreation and Culture (NVRC) has approximately 1000 hours available from now until January 2019 for a graphic designer with solid experience to work under the direction of our marketing and communications staff. You will develop and design print, web and multi-media marketing assets that reflect our mandate to build healthy individuals, families and communities. You will be responsible for design and production management for large print catalogues; layout and design in InDesign; photo and graphic image maintenance, selection and editing; proofing; and managing reviews and editing by numerous stakeholders.
You have the following required qualifications:
Considerable knowledge of graphic design, printing, production techniques and web design
Ability to organize, attend to detail and accuracy, and work in a time sensitive environment
Ability to understand project requirements quickly and produce effective marketing creative
Demonstrated experience in effective design, typography, layout and colour theory
Experience with InDesign including creation of catalogues, posters, postcards, and signage
Experience with Photoshop including editing photographs, creation of digital banners and thumbnails
Experience with Illustrator including creation of design elements such as logos, icons, and buttons
Experience with integrated campaigns using multiple channels and varying media
Experience creating animated GIFs for digital display advertising
Familiarity with content management systems
University or College degree in Graphic Design or Digital Arts/Media
A minimum of three years’ experience

Ability to work on a flexible schedule that ebbs and flows with project timelines
You may have additional preferred qualifications:
- Knowledge of HTML, (HTML5 preferred), CSS, and JavaScript
Experience with Flash design, and Final Cut Pro and Motion Graphics
Project starts November 1, 2017 and ends January 11, 2019
