The Globe and Mail is looking for a full-time Digital Marketing Manager to develop, implement and manage paid social media and SEM campaigns to drive engagement and reach of The Globe brand and editorial content. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving our target audience to with a focus on new visitors, return rates, and engagement. This is a great opportunity for a seasoned Facebook ads manager who enjoys a mix of strategy, execution and planning, cross-departmental collaboration, and working with exceptional content. Exemplary writing skills, a thorough understanding of key performance indicators on various channels, and an ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment are absolute must-haves. The role reports to the Senior Director Consumer Marketing.


As a subject matter expert in paid social media marketing, you’ll work closely with The Globe’s audience growth editors and the Senor Director of Consumer Marketing to achieve audience growth objectives. The bulk of your time will be spent managing advertising campaigns on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google Adwords to help achieve corporate goals. Excellent knowledge of Facebook’s ad manager platform is required along with a strong understanding of Google analytics and how to leverage data to continually optimize campaigns and improve results. When not managing paid campaigns, you’ll be engaging with editorial, The Globe’s content studio and Globe Events team, looking for organic opportunities to promote our content, journalists, event speakers and brand message in a variety of social channels.

You will also:

  • Manage an external agency and related budgets and results, delivering weekly and monthly reports and taking action on any relevant insights
  • Build relationships with advertising partners on key platforms and stay abreast of new developments and best practices
  • Act as the in-house expert on advertising capabilities on a variety of social media platforms, supporting other departments as needed
  • Collaborate with editorial, The Globe Content Studio, Globe Events team, and consumer marketing to support Globe brand campaigns, core product launches, and editorial initiatives
  • Uphold and ensure corporate brand standards, continually monitoring The Globe’s brand reputation outside our platforms
  • Ensure adherence to The Globe’s privacy and CASL policies.


  • University degree with preference for candidates with a Marketing degree.
  • 5 years or more managing results-driven paid social media and SEM campaigns
  • Excellent copy writing skills and attention to detail
  • A self-starter who can work with minimal supervision and take accountability for their work and results
  • An ability to move between strategy and execution with demonstrated willingness to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
