Codified is looking for a content marketer and writer in Toronto (remote candidates welcome)!

Are you a writer who loves to tell fun and insightful short stories? Codified is looking for a writer to help launch and maintain our content marketing program, starting with a blog. As part of the Growth Team you’d be responsible for writing content with the goal of building a relevant audience and driving user acquisition.

We develop a social marketplace (www.VarageSale.com) that is fun, easy and addictive where people buy and sell just about anything in a safe and friendly environment. We have already impacted the lives of millions of people and we are still growing fast. User engagement and retention is extremely high, but we're just getting started and we need your help. We're well funded by top investors and have offices in Toronto and Montreal.

Your tasks would include:

• Launching a blog and other content marketing pieces targeting our core demographic

• Creating an editorial calendar

• Developing our brand character and presence online

• Writing regular content for the blog, including research and basic data analysis

• Overseeing blog post design, including selection of photos and visualization of data

• Marketing the content via social media

• Write email and product copy

• Measuring the impact of content marketing efforts and changing course accordingly

Our target audience is primarily women (mothers, 30-45 years old) and our experience is that the content to engage our users is playful, helpful, real, relatively short form and highly visual.

Requirements:

• Education - Bachelor's degree or equivalent

• 5+ years paid professional writer (e..g, journalist, PR) - must have a portfolio to share

• Creative and animated

• Ability to analyze basic data and create graphs / data visualizations

• Experience managing content marketing / content distribution


• Experience working with tools like WordPress and MailChimp

• Experience distributing content via platforms like Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter and Pinterest

• You can own a task, and deliver it with high precision, independently, even on a short timeline

• You work well with a team and are good at giving and receiving feedback. You enjoy celebrating wins with your team (regardless of your drink of choice, although we like Guinness).

• Startup friendly - ability to persevere through trial and error while keeping a positive attitude

Nice to haves:

• Experience with Google Analytics, HTML, Photoshop

• Experience writing for a similar female demographic

• Experience running Facebook ad campaigns
