Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario is searching for an accomplished writer to assume the role of Communications Officer/Writer.

Reporting to the Director of Communications, as Communications Officer/Writer you will be an integral part of the Communications team.  Your primary responsibility is staff writer for the RN Journal, the Association's bi-monthly flagship magazine. You will develop and pitch story ideas, interview, research and write features and articles.  You will also write press releases, letters to the editor, brochure copy, scripts, and speeches. Other duties include managing the annual media awards competition, assist coordinating media conferences and liaising with Interest Groups and Chapters of the Association to provide writing expertise.  You keep abreast of changing media, including social networking avenues, and can adapt writing styles for various mediums.  You have a keen interest in health care issues and the desire to solicit and track creative story ideas that reflect the diverse range of our members' interest while furthering the priorities of the Association.

The successful candidate will have a university degree in Journalism, a minimum of four years related experience and possess superior writing skills.  This is a full-time position commencing immediately.  RNAO offers a competitive salary and full benefits package. Location: Downtown Toronto.
