The Company

St-Joseph Content, a division of St. Joseph Communications Inc., is one of the largest multichannel content providers in North America. Pi Media, a division of St. Joseph Content, creates effective, creative content for clients who are interested in single or multichannel advertising. This includes retail flyers, catalogues, web content, and in-store POS, including digital signage.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Creative Services, this candidate will influence and direct the client with respect to creative direction and creative solutions for their marketing campaigns. They will take design from concept to presentation to execution for all branding using multiple marketing channels. This role inspires, motivates, directs and oversees the Creative team and creative processes; the accountability and creative quality of client projects, and the operational readiness of the Creative team.  The chosen candidate will be a strong leader and collaborator, able to work cross-functionally across many departments.

Accountabilities

  • Understand the company’s strategic goals; analyze the Creative team, environment, processes and technologies to determine areas needing improvement; and build and direct a creative function aligned with supporting those goals
  • Translate the client’s marketing objectives into creative strategies and lead a team of creative talent in the production of advertising
  • Know the client, as well as, the consumer and take concepts from design to production
  • Review and approve art and copy materials developed by staff and present final layouts to client
  • Develop presentation approaches and direct layout design and copywriting for advertising material
  • Develop a collaborative work process with other departments to ensure quality of output
  • Continuously challenge the team to develop engaging, powerful creative that communicates the client’s key messages to consumers and drives their business results
  • Inspire, lead and develop the members of the Creative team. Actively manage and coach individuals; communicating clear priorities and required results. Provide consistent support and regular feedback to help develop the Creative team.
  • Make decisions on a daily basis that ensure both profitability and creative quality
  • Continuously study the creative marketplace and retail environment of the client
  • Attend client meetings

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must have a Degree or Diploma in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience working with an agency or a national retailer in a Creative Director and/ or similar role
  • Computer proficiency in a MAC based environment, using variable software programs including MS Office, Keynote, Quark – X – Press, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator and In-Design
  • Must possess a thorough understanding of interactive communications, advertising, marketing and industry best practices (Retail and Catalogue experience is a strong asset)
  • A strong knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, brand development and creative process
  • Demonstrated talent for high-caliber creative concepts and writing
  • Ability to judge creative concepts and copy; and clearly communicate direction to others
  • Print and web design capabilities; must know how to work in both media for integrated campaigns
  • Ability to lead projects from concept to completion
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
