Kwantlen Polytechnic University has an immediate opening for a full-time permanent Web Specialist to work in our Marketing and Communications department located on our Cloverdale campus. Reporting to the Manager, Web and Digital Technologies, the Web Specialist will research, design and implement web pages, maintain web content and oversee all day-to-day management of the University and departmental websites, ensuring consistency, quality and integrity of all University web page content and design.

The Web Specialist is responsible for coordinating the University website planning, design and development strategies to ensure the site is current and up to date at all times. The successful candidate will constantly review, research, analyze and test site pages, architecture, usability etc in order to continually improve website traffic and conversion rates. The Web Specialist will implement SEO analysis and utilize tools such as Google Analytics, Google Webmaster Tools, Google Website Optimizer etc to ensure the University website as well as individual pages are tracked, optimized and analyzed with the goal to increase traffic and ultimately increase enrolment of new students.

Required skills and qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in web design and development or related discipline and 3+ years’ experience designing and developing front-end creative web solutions. Equivalent combination of education, 3 years related experience and training may be acceptable with a proven portfolio. Strong knowledge of and recent experience with designing, developing and maintaining large websites and web based applications is a must. Mastery of SEO friendly, CSS-based layouts that adhere to W3C standards is necessary as is current experience with CMS systems, dynamic, template driven web applications and experience with online marketing and advertising strategies, pay per click campaigns, social media, blogging, RSS, XML, third party web services and API’s.
