The Marketing Strategist, Digital Marketing Specialist leads the creation and execution of marketing strategies that can include a range of tactics with emphasis on digital marketing and integrated campaigns. This includes managing relationships with stakeholders throughout UFV and directing the work of designers, photographers, and other creatives. As the department’s resident digital marketing expert, this position consults on projects to ensure they make good use of current digital marketing best practices. The Marketing Strategist will:

  • Work with areas from throughout the university to create marketing plans that achieve identified goals and benefit UFV as a whole
  • Manage projects and campaigns working with campus clients, directing the work of internal and freelance designers, photographers, as well as service suppliers
  • Write clear and compelling copy that is appropriate for the target audience and media
  • Lead the creation and design of digital marketing strategy and campaigns, including the development of web sites or pages, social media posts, blog posts and digital advertising in collaboration with university clients, developers and designers
  • Plan and execute advertising, including media bookings, artwork submissions, billing and campaign tracking, reporting and refining
  • Provide expertise in digital marketing best practices


  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, or a related field from a recognized institution
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience leading marketing initiatives in a complex environment
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience leading integrated marketing campaigns with an emphasis on digital media
  • Experience using Google Analytics, as well as setting up advertising and monitoring campaigns using AdWords, Facebook Ad Manager, Instagram and Snapchat
  • Strong marketing writing and editing skills
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to plan and manage numerous projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work collaboratively
  • Publishing experience with web-based CMS (working knowledge of HTML and CCS would be an asset)
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office suite and functional aptitude with Adobe Indesign and Photoshop
  • Excellent knowledge of SEO and SEO standards
  • Experience developing web sites for lead generation
  • Experience developing online marketing strategy and using analytics to measure success
  • Basic photography and video skills
  • Experience in a post-secondary education or similar complex organization an asset
