Green Shield Canada (GSC) currently has an opening for a Social Media Specialist to join our Strategic Market Solutions team. This will be an exciting opportunity for the right candidate, and a chance to help grow our company story and product brands online.

Overview of Responsibilites

GSC's new Social Media Specialist will be responsible for helping to tell the GSC story by contributing to and implementing our Social Media strategy. Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Communications, duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Managing GSC corporate and product-specific social channels; ensuring consistent branding and voice across all networks
  • Managing (and adhering to) the milestones and measures of success set out in the Social Media strategy; monitoring and meeting deadlines
  • Creating and managing all relevant company and product social media editorial calendars
  • Working with graphic designers and copywriters as necessary to create and post social content
  • Responding to and/or forwarding external inquiries, as well as participating in conversations and community outreach activities
  • Liaising with other members of the marketing team to ensure opportunities for cross-promotion are optimized
  • Partnering with GSC Human Resources team to enhance internal communications, employee engagement, talent recruitment
  • Monitoring social media analytics and reporting on success
  • Keeping up with current trends in social and presenting creative ideas for improving social posting/ engagement

Competencies and Qualifications

  • 3-5 years’ experience in social media marketing and digital advertising paired with a related degree
  • A creative and innovative individual with a passion for taking a project from start to success
  • An enthusiastic social networker; a lover of all things digital and brand-building
  • A fluency in all top social networks and an understanding of social posting practices (ie: hashtags, keywords, best time of day to post, etc.)
  • Proven success in social media marketing - in growing a social following and building positive engagement online
  • An in-depth knowledge of social media dashboards such as Hootsuite
  • Familiarity with other analytics and “listening” tools such as Google Analytics, Mention and RivalIQ
  • A working understanding of basic Search Engine Optimization (SEO) principles
  • An excellent writer, with the ability to create concise and clean content
  • The ability to both work with a team and work alone; self-directed
  • Highly organized; the ability to meet deadlines
  • Some experience in customer service will be an asset as you will be communicating with customers and clients online
  • Sense of humour (we’re dead serious)
