The Social Marketing Lead Role is responsible for leading Microsoft’s “earned” social/digital strategy, and will work in close partnership with colleagues running the “owned” and “paid” components of the growing digital discipline.
Specific areas of responsibility
Driving the development of the social strategy, for the consumer and commercial business at Microsoft Canada
Driving innovation in our approach to our social engines
Managing the Microsoft Canada Social Media Platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc)
Managing the team of onsite community managers
Scaling our events through social event amplification efforts
Constructing competitive social insights
Understanding and evangelizing the latest trends in the social/digital space and driving how the business derives maximum impact in this area by executing against these trends
Deriving actionable insights from the web analytics that are connect to our initiatives
This is a unique opportunity to work across a broad array of exciting businesses including Windows, Windows Phone, Surface, Office, Server, Dynamics, Enterprise and Small Business. The role reports directly to the CMO.
To be successful, a candidate must have the following skills, knowledge and experiences.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Business Administration; MBA or comparable Master’s Degree preferred
Experience driving business impact in the social arena in both B2B and B2C environments
Deep understanding of social engines
Competency in deriving insight and action through data analytics, specifically in the digital space
A keen interest in the latest innovations in the digital discipline, and the ability to translate those trends into action
Strong project management skills
The ability to effectively drive cross-group communication and cooperation, while demonstrating strong collaborative skills, including the ability to work with international partners
Strong written and oral communication with strong presentation skills and ability to explain complex situations in clear terms to management and large groups
A desire to be a part of a high performing team that is changing the world, while having fun and driving business results
