Purpose of the Job:

The Social Content Manager (SMCM) oversees all aspects of Social Media and Content Marketing for Meridian Credit Union.

Working closely with the Marketing and Digital Banking teams, the SMCM will be responsible for the overarching social and content marketing strategy as well as the ongoing planning, development and cross-channel deployment of engaging content.

Key Responsibilities:

Social Media and Content Marketing Leadership

  • Ongoing optimization of Meridian’s overarching engagement and response strategy
  • Lead, collaborate and provide guidance to Marketing and cross-functional partners
  • Develop programs and campaigns that help in the overall achievement of engagement targets, follower growth goals and web traffic objectives (CTA)
  • Overall management of Social Media and Content Marketing Budget
  • Remain current with social media and content marketing trends
  • Ensure workflow and processes are optimized

Content Development & Deployment

  • Overall management of Meridian’s Good Sense content hub and primary social channels: Facebook, Twitter & Instagram. Responsibilities include:
    • Ongoing management of functional content calendar
    • Development and deployment of relevant and engaging content ensuring it is on-brand, consistent in style, quality and tone of voice
    • Monitoring and responding as required to our online community
  • Drive development and execution of social media and content marketing programs that support key Marketing campaigns
  • Understand how to boost reach and impressions through paid media programs
  • Tactical use of other Social channels such as Snapchat and Youtube as required
  • Support HR partners with the management of LinkedIn

People Management

  • Inspire, lead, guide and develop Direct Reports
  • Provide oversight and guidance ensuring projects are executed on time and on budget.

Analytics and Insights

  • Monthly tracking of core KPIs providing key observations and insights that can help shape future strategies and campaigns
  • Conduct competitive audits to understand opportunities and trends

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

The successful candidate must possess:

  • Post-Secondary Education
  • 5+ years of experience managing Social Media for reputable brands with specific experience managing the following channels: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn
  • Experience with content marketing and managing a Content Hub
  • Strategic thinker who can tell a great story but who can also clearly articulate business objectives behind the creation of a piece (or series) of content
  • Thorough understanding of digital media, Google analytics and SEO
  • Ability to set up, monitor and optimize paid media campaigns
  • Decision maker who can effectively navigate ambiguity and embrace change
  • Excellent project and budget management skills with a clear ability to prioritize
  • People Management experience along with the ability to build and nurture key relationships across the organization
  • Proven editorial skills and outstanding command of the English language.
  • Ability to successfully develop and deploy a variety of engaging member-focused content marketing strategies and formats including: Video, Infographics, contests, surveys as well as experience leveraging Influencers
  • Fluency in web-based analytics tools (Google Analytics/360) and social media marketing applications like Sprout Social
  • Knowledge of Financial Industry is an asset
