SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST, FULL TIME
The Canadian Centre for Aging and Brain Health Innovation (CC-ABHI) is a solution accelerator that improves healthcare outcomes and drives economic benefit by fostering productive collaborations between global innovators and leading seniors’ care organizations. Reporting to the Director of Business Development (CC-ABHI), the Senior Communications Specialist is responsible for the development, design, brand and creative efforts of key communications materials that support CC-ABHI strategic and business objectives. Part of a small but dynamic team, the Senior Communications Specialist will work alongside marketing and business development colleagues to design, develop and managing a broad portfolio of activities.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Leads the development and execution of communications in full alignment with business and strategic directions, both long and short term
- Develops communication plans for external and internal audiences that ensure announcements and CC-ABHI media reaction is strategically aligned
- Works in co-ordination with the other members of CC-ABHI and the Baycrest Marketing and Communications team on planning, writing and editing of all products
- Identifies opportunities to promote the organization and global brand, supporting employee/community understanding of CC-ABHI initiatives, strengths, challenges and directions, in addition to raising awareness of care, research, education, breakthroughs and issues
- Identifies potential issues and areas of risk to CC-ABHI profile and brand recognition, developing mitigation strategies and providing just-in-time communication
- Pursues opportunities to promote CC-ABHI through various media, ensuring digital (social/internet/intranet vehicles) are current, informative and appealing and developing creative ways to link and disseminate information using traditional, digital and electronic applications
Qualifications include but are not limited to:
- University degree in marketing, communications or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Minimum of 5-7 years relevant communications experience including strategic planning, communications planning, issues and reputation management, and media relations
- Experienced navigating the communication channels most closely related to the healthcare / startup communities in Toronto, Canada, North America, and globally
- Comprehensive understanding of fundamental principles of communications planning, execution and measurement
- Demonstrated understanding of social and digital media
- Strong ability to work independently and proactively to seek out opportunities for contributions, identify needs within the organization, and the ability to take initiative to get projects started and accomplished with minimal supervision
