Senior Communications Officer

Communications and public relations are your passion as well as your profession, enabling you to take on a lead strategic advisory role as part of the Peel District School Board’s Communications and Community Relations Support Services team.

Reporting to the department Manager, and directing the activities of an assigned communications team, you will provide strategic and tactical expertise in planning, developing and implementing both internal and external communication programs to foster and maintain authentic, mutually beneficial relationships between the Board, schools and our communities. You will be a valuable resource to the Board’s senior administration, trustees, and school and department staff, advising on crisis communications and the interpretation of policy and regulations, acting as a media spokesperson and as a lead in committees and workgroups, and coordinating media training.

As a communications professional who keeps on top of the latest trends and practices in the industry, you welcome the opportunity to research and develop strategic communications plans to support Board initiatives and goals, research and write concise, clear content, and develop targeted communications materials. Your outstanding writing, presentation and planning skills will also be evident as you develop and deliver presentations to internal and external audiences, plan and coordinate communications support to schools, departments, special events and ceremonies, and supervise social and mainstream media and content development.
