The Gig

Reporting to Director of  Marketing, Chimp’s Senior Communications Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and management of short and long term brand strategy, delivered through sound strategic thinking and excellence in execution.

This role is responsible for vision, leadership and execution in order to effectively communicate our value proposition to Chimp’s core audiences: donors, charities, companies and communities. This hands-on role requires an experienced communication leader willing to plan, write, craft, develop and lead.

Major Responsibilities

  • Develop, adapt, and refine strategic direction for Chimp’s brand communications, grounded in community, user and customer insights

  • Lead the development of Chimp’s annual brand communications plans

  • Define, develop and implement value proposition and key messages, speaking to all of Chimp’s audiences

  • Deliver superior execution to bring the brand strategy to life

  • Manage internal resources and cross-functional relationships to deliver standout results

  • Drive accountability, track results on key brand and programs, recommend course correction as required based on performance vs. Key Performance Indicators

  • Monitor and address the competitive landscape, as needed

  • Ensure all aspects of external communication are consistent and on brand

Skills and Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience working in corporate communications/internal communications within an entrepreneurial environment or as a senior consultant in a public relations agency

  • Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising communication programs that engage, inform and motivate

  • Agility, and the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment

  • Willingness to provide the ‘final word’ on key communications

  • Advanced verbal communications, writing and editing skills; proven ability to fluently articulate information, producing clear and compelling communications – ability to adapt writing styles for different audiences and vehicles

  • Strong research and analytical skills

  • Willingness to develop in-depth understanding of the Chimp’s current products and future roadmap

  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively

  • Analytical skills to forecast and identify trends and challenges

Nice to Have

  • Experience leading a brand team

  • Experience on both agency and client-side

  • Demonstrated experience growing a brand through strategic communications
