Major Purpose

As a link between markets and product supply this position has the ownership of assigned product lines for driving and developing both machines and related solutions sales as well as pricing and tactical marketing activities for the WW market to achieve sustainably profitable market share and SVA growth.  This position is located in Langley, British Columbia.

Major Duties:

  • As a 'face-of-a-product-line' provides first hand sales, marketing and applications support for assigned product lines through the Sales and Marketing functions, in addition directly to dealers and customers.
  • Understands the competitive positioning and required improvements. Drives actions to improve product line competitiveness (market share) & profitability through technical features and performance improvements, as well as through pricing & tactical programs. Develops & executes go-to-market plans for new features and solutions. Brings the 'voice of market' to product & portfolio planning, liaising with Sales for input.
  • Provides strategic planning and market analysis for DHSP Forestry Product lines for the worldwide market to drive fact-based decision making for Portfolio and projects.
  • Develops and drives execution of the portfolio plan to achieve product line objectives for share and profitability. Defines customer and market requirements and works with Product Line Management Team and other functions to implement machine improvements and new solutions through product development processes. Conducts thorough market analysis and creates product line plans. Works with Product Line Management Teams to define & execute portfolio of product improvement projects to achieve long term product vision. Prepares presentations and product line reports for senior management.
  • Plans and orchestrates customer and dealer advisory groups and product best in class events to define customer requirements and product improvement opportunities.
  • Supports customers at risk liaising with Sales, Forestry Customer & Product Support expertise and build enthusiasm & support for selling the product.
  • Work with Marketing Management Team to manage the sales, marketing and support projects and initiatives to achieve product market share and price realization objectives.
  • Lead the Product Information Team to define the product line value proposition, assess competitive standing, and generate/manage the product information required to support field and Deere internal needs. Supports Sales Tools and Applications, as well as Forestry Marketing and Communication.
  • Represents the product line in Forestry shows, association's events and other similar promotions.
  • Provides descriptive Product Line commentary for monthly reporting

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business or Marketing discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, often with short notice.
  • Strong technical background, with an understanding Forestry applications, technical and product issues in Forestry applications.
  • Strong market driven conceptual, planning, analysis and presentation skills.
  • Ability to capture customer pain points, and translate pain points to opportunities and solutions.
  • Extremely good capability to summarize results of analysis and prepare presentations to communicate these results within the organization.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office suite, with advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be a self-starter with a high level of self-discipline.
  • Must have excellent project management skills.

Assets:

  • Minimum 2-3 years of work experience with forestry equipment engineering, sales, marketing or support.
  • Working and application knowledge of forestry and construction equipment.
  • Experience working with customers and/or dealers.
  • Solid presentation experience.

This position will be posted for a minimum of 7 business days and unposted when a qualified pool of candidates is achieved.
