About the Opportunity

The Product Designer, UX will join the User Experience team at LoyaltyOne, tasked to deliver exceptional experiences for Collectors using the digital products within the AIR MILES Reward Program. Working in a user-centered design and agile development environment, the role works across multiple agile teams to create and redesign digital experiences to improve the user experience and better achieve our business goals. Through iterative design and development, the Product Designer works diligently to incorporate user and stakeholder feedback into beautiful solutions in a highly-collaborative setting.

The User Experience team is comprised of UX Researchers and Designers who work diligently to incorporate user feedback into the design and development process, use hard data to disprove theories and opinions, and promote change toward a build-measure-learn, design-thinking culture. The UX team is a newly formed and growing in-house design team dedicated to the AIR MILES brand.

What you’ll do:

  • Create elegant and engaging experiences for LoyaltyOne’ s digital products within the AIR MILES Reward Program
  • Comfortable creating end-to-end designs from low-fidelity sketching/wire framing through to high-fidelity pixel perfect visual design
  • Design responsive user interfaces/layouts that work for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices
  • Facilitate or participate in ideation sessions, motivating all team members to take part in creating design solutions
  • Create interactive prototypes to communicate and demonstrate design concepts to internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Product Owners to understand business requirements and support delivery within development sprint cycles
  • Partner with UX Researchers by providing input into test planning and incorporating the learnings/results from testing efforts
  • Present design solutions to business stakeholders with the ability to rationalize ideas using qualitative or quantitative data
  • Work closely with developers to implement and perfect designs, with the goal of increasing collaboration and reducing documentation
  • Provide creative assets as needed including design comps, image assets and source stock photography when required
  • Contribute to discovery activities, conducting site audits and competitive reviews
  • Ensure consistency in Collector/user experience by reusing established design patterns and styles
  • Participate in creating and updating the AIR MILES Reward Program Digital Style Guide & UI Pattern Library

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years’ experience working in a digital design-related role such as Information Architecture, User Experience, Graphic/Visual Design
  • Undergraduate degree or post-secondary education in a related discipline such as Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Computer Science, Interactive Media, Web Design, Information/Business Technology or related field
  • Solid understanding of user-centered design principles and processes
  • Visual/graphic design background or experience with an appreciation for clean, simple design
  • Ability to pay attention to details while still being able to see the big picture
  • Proficiency with creative tools such as Balsamiq, Axure RP Pro, InVision, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator/Creative Suite, Omnigraffle

Nice to have:

  • Certification from an accredited educational institution in UX Design/Usability such as Human Factors International or Akendi
  • Work experience within a product development team in a loyalty, retail and/or financial context
  • Experience in marketing and/or branding
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript
  • Understanding of accessibility and WCAG guidelines
