Hotel Overview:

Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director, Sales and Marketing, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage all marketing activities ensuring brand standards are followed
  • Execute marketing plans and programs in conjunction with the Sales department to ensure profit growth
  • Research, analyze and monitor financial, technological, and demographic factors to identify market opportunities
  • Plan and oversee the hotels advertising and promotion activities, including print, electronic and direct mail
  • Communicate with outside advertising agencies and partners
  • Develop marketing content for website, social media platforms and print collateral
  • Work with the Public Relations department and creative partners to oversee and create copywriting, design, layout, and the production of promotional material
  • Follow the annual budget and administer the budget in a fiscally responsible manner
  • Balance operational, administrative and Colleague needs
  • Coordinate and manage itineraries for media visits and press trips (includes occasional hosting of media guests)
  • Assist with follow-up after these visits
  • Handle daily media inquiries (includes fact checking, image requests, arranging media interviews, etc.)
  • Assist with writing and deploying of press releases, social media updates and guest email communications (includes creating targeted media lists)
  • Assist with writing copy for the regional properties, updating content for web and social media sites and developing landing pages
  • Support with photo and video shoots for marketing materials and coordinate distribution to online channels
  • Assist with implementation of search engine optimization tactics and developing local partnerships for links and promotion
  • Support maintenance of online presence on online travel sites and Fairmont.com
  • Maintenance of PR & online marketing tools (calendar, media database, media kit, online assets, fact sheets, bios, etc.)
  • Manage weekly/monthly reporting for media coverage and web stats (includes tracking of special projects)
  • Assist with coordination of special media projects, promotional opportunities, and PR events
  • Assist with follow-up after these events
  • Implement directives as outlined from the Director, Sales & Marketing
  • Uphold the highest standard of internal and external customer service at all times
  • Represent Fairmont at industry and media events as required
  • Occasional media hosting before, during and after office hours (includes some weekends when necessary)
  • Attendance and/or assistance requested at occasional organization events before or after office hours
  • Miscellaneous administrative duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Previous leadership experience within marketing required
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications and other relevant computer applications required
  • University/College degree in a related discipline required
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
