We’re a young, rapidly growing, progressive technology company with an exciting future. We believe in investing in our employees and nurturing them to learn and grow in their roles. We’re a multi-cultural global company that appreciates and supports diversity. And thanks to our rapid expansion, we’re looking to grow our marketing team by adding a highly skilled individual to focus on the publishing side of our business.

Working with our broader marketing and publishing business development teams, the successful candidate will manage a demanding and exciting portfolio of projects aimed at building PressReader’s roster of publishing partners. This includes project-managing our speaking engagements and marketing activations at a busy schedule of international events, as well as being responsible for online lead generation, social media, and traditional marketing as they relate to the publishing side of our business.

Make no mistake, the role is fast-paced and demanding. But for the right candidate, it’s a terrific opportunity to work at an incredibly exciting, fast-growing company with a whip-smart team. There’s plenty of room for advancement, and potentially some international travel.

A competitive compensation package is offered along with a chance to be working in one of the most dynamic and exciting international tech companies in Canada.

About you

We’ll wait to hire the right person, so our expectations are high. You:

  • Have minimum 5-10 years of excellent, progressive marketing experience leading projects, moving measurable KPIs and generally knocking it out of the park.

  • Are passionate, motivated and very hard-working. This isn’t the kind of job where you can hang out scanning your Facebook Newsfeed all day.

  • Have a creative and analytical tech-marketing mindset. You’re always looking for the measurable variable in a marketing campaign, and you excel at breaking nebulous concepts of ‘marketing success’ down into tangible KPIs.

  • Have ideally worked in a big corporate company – but you’d prefer to be agency-side or in the tech industry. You’re deeply familiar with how corporates work, but you’re not a traditional thinker.

  • Can articulate what the future of marketing looks like, as well as how the profession has changed over the last five to ten years.

  • Are a native English speaker, with the ability to write grammatically impeccable, conversion-focused marketing copy.

  • Have a laser eye for typos and an attention to detail bordering on compulsion.

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree, ideally in business or a related field. Some quantitative coursework is an asset.

  • Possess an analytical mind and the ability to handle statistics and marketing data.

  • Have a keen visual sensibility and can articulate a brand visually.

  • Have plenty of ambition and motivation. You’re not looking for a 9-5 role but rather the chance to be part of a hard-working, fast-moving team.

  • Like to hustle. You will move mountains to get things done, rather than giving up in the face of a speed bump. You get motivated and try harder in situations where other people tend to give up.

  • Possess a passion for marketing, business and your career. You’re always learning and self-improving.

  • Always maintain a positive, can-do attitude and a sense of humour. This one is non-negotiable.

  • Exude professionalism: you’re comfortable communicating with senior leadership at major companies.

  • Are super organized: you don’t need to be micromanaged to hit all of your deadlines. You can be trusted to manage complex projects.

  • Are a regular consumer of news and avid reader. You can name your favorite newspapers and magazines and you read them regularly. You ‘get’ the end consumer’s mindset.

  • Possess a willingness to learn and a collaborative attitude. You can take feedback without pouting, and you easily build positive relationships with your colleagues.

Nice to have

  • Understanding of growth marketing tactics and conversion optimization.

  • A passion for the technology sector, evidenced by a deep knowledge of industry trends, practices, leaders and marketing strategies.

  • You have a Twitter account and a following, or maybe a blog. You know how to market yourself on social media.

  • A second language is always a bonus.
