Job Responsibilities:
Golder Associates Ltd. is seeking a Marketing Coordinator to join our National Marketing Team for a 14- month maternity leave contract. The position will fill a vacancy in our Burnaby location but consideration will be given to candidates located near other Golder National offices. The successful candidate, a marketing professional, will be responsible for coordinating marketing and business development activities that align with Golder’s National Mining Client Sector objectives that focus on Workshop, Tradeshow and Conferences (WTC) and client relationship management.

The successful candidate will be part of a team within an exciting and growing business environment. He/she will bring a client focused approach to marketing strategies with excellent communication and organizational skills, will be able to achieve both short term results as well as build long-term success, and must be able to operate positively in a context of change and growth.

Responsibilities span the general domains of marketing practice which include Planning, Promotion, Client and Business Development, Research and Business Performance. Specific tasks may include:

  • With direction from national Client Sector Program Leadership, coordinate the development and implementation of integrated business development and marketing planning to support the tactical and operational objectives and strategic sales goals of the mining business;
  • Ensure plans and activities are aligned with the Mining Business Plan focus areas and initiatives;
  • Manage and support all activities related to the execution of Mining sector focused Workshop, Tradeshows and Conferences (WTCs) including:
  • Event opportunity assessments;
  • WTC event plans, completing WTC event go / no-go forms;
  • Managing booth and display equipment bookings, set-up & tear down;
  • Identification and development of WTC event promotional activities and collateral materials;
  • Coordinate onsite Golder participation;
  • Organizing event sponsorship activities;
  • Engaging consulting staff and relevant stakeholders;
  • Arranging pre-event meetings for WTC event team;
  • Participating as a booth attendee during the WTC event as directed by the sector;
  • Organizing and conducting WTC event debrief process;
  • Assisting with business development lead administration;
  • Establish communication channels between sector team members, marketing teams and Golder consultants to advance participation and profile at strategic events; and,
  • Collaborate constructively with relevant client Sector and Business Development personnel.
  • Develop and strengthen key internal relationships to enhance overall sales effort and client satisfaction and client relationship management;
  • Prepare client/industry /Golder intelligence to support face to face client meetings and satisfaction interviews;
  • Organize and attend, as needed, client meetings, client functions and client events;
  • maintain client contact database and records of interactions with clients;
  • Quarterly tracking and reporting of planned goals and objectives;
  • Be a central point of contact for Team projects, facilitate flow of relevant client and market intelligence to the Team, organize internal Team meetings and conference calls;
  • Keep abreast of political, economic and local market conditions, competitor operations and other significant opportunities or competitive threats;
  • Proactively manage workload through regular communication with practitioners;
  • Support staff in marketing services through building and maintaining client relationships;
  • Follow health and safety responsibilities, under all applicable government legislations and Golder policies and procedures;
  • Act as a role model to espouse our Core Values and Code of Conduct;
  • Perform other duties as required to support Golder’s success.

Job Requirements:
The preferred candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • A University Degree in Marketing, Business, or Communications (consideration to graduates in sciences or engineering with a strong marketing background);
  • 3 to 6 years of direct work experience in a marketing capacity preferably within a professional (engineering and/or sciences) services firm;
  • Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking and time management skills to meet deadlines;
  • Well developed research skills; able to gather, analyze and evaluate a variety of data;
  • Solid understanding of the mining industry and/or consulting engineering and environmental services is an asset;
  • Excellent writing skills, outstanding verbal communication and presentation skills;
  • Highly effective teamwork skills with a can-do attitude;
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts;
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines for opportunities;
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people skills with a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of an organization;
  • Computer literate, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail and Adobe Products;
  • Energetic, self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented;
