JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to Manager, Business & Marketing Solutions the successful candidate for this position is a highly motivated self-starter responsible for marketing and promotion for several lines of business in the Community Services Department. The marketing consultant will:

  • Use available marketing communications channels effectively to promote programs available at facilities as well as identify opportunities for innovation.

  • Develop and maintain a marketing plan to include assigned programs and services.

  • Responsible for implementation of the Recreation visual identity system and effective use of the Recreation and City of Mississauga brands.

  • Act as a point of contact for local advertisers, sponsors and other partners; develop systems to ensure effective messaging to all facility visitors.

  • Part of a team that ensures a quality leisure experience for all facility users.

  • Responsible for having an awareness of market conditions, competitive positioning and demographics for assigned lines of businesses to ensure marketing and programming are responsive to customer and resident needs.

  • Ensure alignment between marketing communications plans and other business or strategic plans to ensure assigned lines of business serve the market.

  • Be responsive and maintain a high degree of customer service.

  • Assess the service expectations of program participants and develop mechanisms to ensure customers receive exemplary service.

  • Track appropriate usage data and accumulate regular customer service assessments and information through surveys, focus groups, and other formal interactions with facility users and program participants.

  • Identify population segments that are under represented in the participant profile or areas where program quality could be improved.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate of a post-secondary degree program in marketing, digital communications, business, recreation or related discipline, plus a minimum of three years related experience. Proven experience in all aspects of marketing communications including the development and implementation of strategic marketing campaigns and promotional initiatives. Proven experience in the effective use of online communications and digital marketing strategies including social media. Demonstrated project management experience, organizational and analytical skills. Excellent customer service, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Experience with recreation & parks, fitness, golf or camps marketing, health promotion or related areas is considered an asset. The successful candidate must be adaptable and able to work in a changing environment with various teams, internal and external service providers and partners to achieve their marketing plan.

Note: This is a contract up to 11 months

Hours of Work: 35 hour per week

Hourly Rate: $35.87 - $47.83 (Based on a Salary of $65,282 to $87,045)
