You’re also passionate about clear, creative, audience-focused writing, no matter what form it takes. Do you know how to ask the right questions? Do you thrive on cutting through the clutter so content and messages resonate with target audiences? Are you comfortable being in the middle of things, making sure everything connects? Our Marketing Communications team is looking for experienced marketing communications specialists (one-year contracts).

You will consult with various team members as you work through the marketing and communication planning phase, while advocating for our audiences, communications resources and processes. You’ll also help integrate communications across internal and external audiences, and sometimes across lines of business. Your strategic communications knowledge and skills will be demonstrated as you contribute to product launches and changes, advisor and consumer tactics, sales concepts, change management projects, and advisor development programs and campaigns. You’ll write and creatively execute a variety of communication tactics, working closely with our talented digital/print design and video teams. You also have a strong problem-solving mindset and resource-management skills.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop, create and execute a variety of strategic, creative, high-quality marketing communications tactics for Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life
  • Collaborate with team members, internal business partners and senior management to develop creative marketing plans that support marketing strategies
  • Craft content and copy that’s creative, clear, compelling, customer-focused, well-timed and appropriate for the audience
  • Ensure brand and communications consistency across tactics and lines of business
  • Provide creative direction to media teams (print and digital design, video), business partners and outside vendors
  • Maintain writing standards, CP style and corporate brand identities and tone
  • Build open, collaborative, productive relationships
  • Problem solve and negotiate
  • Manage outside vendors as needed

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Minimum of 5 years of communications experience with focus on developing and writing marketing or corporate communications
  • Degree in Communications, English, Journalism or Media and Information; post-secondary certificate in corporate communications, public relations or marketing
  • Very strong business writing skills in multiple forms – digital, print, plans
  • Must be self-motivated, self-managing, organized and able to multi-task and prioritize jobs to meet deadlines
  • Must be flexible, able to see all angles and know when to give a little to get a little
  • Must enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment
  • Strong attention to detail
