Position Purpose

Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Economic Initiatives, is responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of the business development marketing plan and communications activities, including monitoring the business development marketing budget; developing content for advertising and promotional materials in print and electronic formats; and performing public relations/communications activities.

Qualifications

•Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Marketing, Tourism, Journalism or equivalent.
•Minimum three (3) years of demonstrated experience in the coordination of marketing including on-line and communication activities.
•Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license and reliable vehicle for use on corporate business.
•Demonstrated experience in copy writing, editing, and proof reading in a business development and marketing environment.
•Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in social media, internet and multi media marketing principles and practices.
•Demonstrated knowledge of organizations, industry associations and government programs related to the economic development and tourism industry.
•Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, team work, initiative/self management and accountability, and flexibility/adaptability.
•Proficient in MS Office software applications, Microsoft Creative Suite including Indesign and Photoshop or related design software, Access, Publisher as well as web publishing tools and with Internet and web site management.
•Strong project management, organizational, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
•Ability to deal positively with a broad spectrum of internal and external clients, fostering cooperative and collaborative customer-focused working relationships.
•Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required.
