Opportunity

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, this is clerical, public relations and marketing work in assisting in the production of promotional material. An incumbent compiles, condenses and prepares consistent presentation of online information to update websites, social media accounts, and respond to online inquiries, assists with the preparation of basic promotional information, presentations, e-newsletters, media releases and assists in coordinating the production and distribution of same. In addition, an incumbent maintains related records and statistics. An incumbent exercises some independence of judgement and action within established guidelines and policies referring matters of a difficult or policy nature to the supervisor, who reviews work performance in terms of effective clerical, marketing support and communication services rendered. Performs other related work as required.

Qualifications

Qualifications include completion of the 12th school grade including or supplemented by courses related to marketing and/or communications plus sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Thorough knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation and arithmetic. Considerable knowledge of modern office practices and procedures and of the policies, procedures, rules and regulations applicable to the work. Sound knowledge of the objectives and policies of the city as they relate to the work. Some knowledge of the principles and techniques relating to events, programs and services at the City. Ability to review marketing material from a wide variety of sources and modify to a consistent presentation and format; to communicate effectively orally and in writing with a variety of internal and external contacts; and to prepare and maintain a variety of correspondence, reports and records e.g. update website content management system, social media and databases related to the work. Considerable experience in updating content management systems for websites, social media, email marketing and databases (CLASS Software), proficiency in Microsoft Office and general office duties in a marketing department is considered an asset. Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
