The Work:

The Manager, Marketing and Communications, is responsible for development and execution of strategy for all corporate marketing and communication efforts including brand development, internal and external communications, charity campaigns, advertising, events, sponsorship and digital marketing. Manages a team of direct reports.  This is a one year contract covering a maternity leave.

With your leadership and coaching of a talented team of doers, you’ll use your expertise to push projects and initiatives forward in the realm of digital, brand, corporate communications, sustainability and more. No two days are ever the same, working hand in hand with a team of in-house graphic designers, web developers, sales and product teams, serving exciting roster of automotive brands and their dealers.

Responsibilities:

  • Development and execution of marketing strategy for the following initiatives:
    • Enhancement of digital presence for both LGM and OEM/dealer partners as it relates to their F&I products
    • Execution and evolution of LGM annual charity campaign
    • Supports CRM launch on behalf of marketing department
    • Development of the LGM training brand and lead generation strategies
  • In conjunction with team directs, supports the following ongoing initiatives:
    • Supports sales team with business development strategies, RFP submissions and client pitch presentations
    • Executes on internal communication initiatives (ie. intranet development, executive communication, etc.)
    • Develops promotional materials including brochures, sell sheets and presentations
    • Launches annual advertising schedule, online and offline, for both LGM and partners
    • Sustains annual content marketing strategy for LGM blog and other channels
    • Executes annual plan to position LGM as the F&I expert in the Canadian automotive industry
    • Oversees internal and external company events, including annual sales incentive trip (led by an external contractor/event planner)
    • Develops and manages corporate marketing and communications budgets
  • Maintains and evolves LGM brand and corporate positioning
  • Drives internal and external participation and engagement for marketing initiatives
  • Collaborates with Creative Services team to produce marketing collateral in accordance with LGM brand standards
  • Consistently reviews and improves departmental workflow processes
  • Negotiates and reviews contracts and agreements with all partners
  • Determines and reports KPIs and the status of marketing programs and initiatives to senior management
  • Leads, coaches and develops a team of four full time staff and one contractor

What we are looking for:

Marketing:

  • Demonstrated success in marketing strategy, management and implementation
  • Excellent understanding and familiarity of brand building and brand management
  • Proven track record in creating and executing successful digital marketing campaigns and initiatives
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Internet marketing techniques, technologies and solutions
  • Hands-on experience with search engine optimization, pay-per-click advertising and other web-focused initiatives
  • Management of one marketing specialist and one marketing coordinator

Communications:

  • Experienced in corporate (internal), external and crisis communications
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills including writing, editing and proofreading across all mediums (print, web, social, speeches, presentations etc.)
  • Ability to develop and execute on effective and creative internal/external communications plans
  • Understanding of content generation and strategy to create demand
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner
  • Management of one communications specialist and one communications coordinator

General:

  • Experience in strategic planning and execution; knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management
  • Ability to build and influence relationships with internal and external partners; comfortable preparing and presenting to executive level
  • Demonstrated success managing and developing direct reports
  • Proven ability to work with & influence cross-functional departments
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with aggressive deadlines
  • Excellent organizational, planning, influence and follow-up skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects
  • Proficient in designing and managing operating budgets at a functional level

Education:

  • Post-secondary degree in communications, marketing, business administration or related discipline

Experience:

  • 8+ years of direct work experience in a marketing/communications management capacity
  • 2+ years of people management experience
  • Experience leading a corporate communications unit
  • Experience and interest in leading a corporate sustainability unit/projects considered an asset
  • Previous automotive industry experience considered an asset
