We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Marketing and Communications Strategy to join our leadership team. As Manager, Marketing and Communications Strategy, you will be responsible for assisting with the City’s marketing and communications strategy development. You will provide strategic guidance, planning, development, and project management for complex and varied marketing and communications initiatives, you will assist in developing policies, procedures, goals and objectives, all the while ensuring that all of these initiatives are aligned with the City’s Corporate Strategic Plan. You will work with management and business leaders to understand their business needs as it relates to marketing and communications, while anticipating emerging issues and trends, and providing recommendations to address those needs.

In this role, you will provide strong leadership and guidance in the delivery of marketing and communication services to a wide variety of external consultants and staff members within, but not limited to, recruitment, performance management, training, and coaching and development. As you will be engaging with many people, you must be effective in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Performs related work as required.

To qualify, you should have a university degree in Business Administration (Marketing) or Communications with a minimum of five years of recent related experience at the supervisory level, preferably in municipal government, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. You will require considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques related to marketing and communications; general principles of municipal government structure and processes; as well as organizational and analytical skills. You should be able to manage, direct and oversee a moderate-sized group of marketing and communications staff and to train, mentor and review the work of same; establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; prepare and manage budgets; establish priorities and accomplish objectives in a timely manner; and be able to use various software applications. A Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required.
