We are a digitally-driven branding, marketing and creative agency with a dedicated focus on outdoor sport and tourism, and with offices in both Whistler, BC and Montreal QC. We’re looking for a kick-ass senior designer looking to make the transition to ART DIRECTOR, but not yet wanting to leave the design role behind. If this sounds like you, and you’ve got serious creative chops, a minimum of five years experience designing for web and mobile, a collaborative and imaginative character with a flexible aesthetic then we invite you to apply. The role is available in either our Whistler, BC or Montreal, QC offices.

JOB TITLE: Interactive Designer


  • Vacation: 2 weeks paid per year, plus paid non-stat days between Dec. 25 and Jan. 1
  • Recreation: $1000 recreation credit

  • Training: $1000 per year in self-directed training (symposium, conferences, classes or other)


The Interactive Art Director focuses on the creative strategy, design and execution of innovative digital experiences. The IAD understands which design principles will work for best-in-class brand, interactive, mobile, and web experiences and can sell concepts to clients. He or she is responsible for leading a team of designers and production specialists while working collaboratively with a creative director, copywriters, project managers and account managers to successfully translate concepts into leading-edge interactive experiences.


  • A post-secondary diploma or degree in graphic, web and / or multimedia design
  • Advanced design application and visual skills, analytical thinking and team spirit
  • An eye for detail and an understanding of marketing strategies and implementation
  • A strong understanding of colour theory and typography
  • A strong work ethic with an ability to be creative within fast turnaround times, the ability to handle several assignments
  • At least 3 years of professional design experience while being highly skilled in Adobe Creative Suite and working knowledge of HTML/CSS and HTML5
  • Advanced understanding of user experience design, usability behaviours and ability to apply usability and UI standards
  • Excellent grasp of design fundamentals (fonts, typography, color, layout, etc.)
  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe CS Suite
  • Understanding of HTML, CSS, JQuery and AJAX
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal); team player
  • An ability to work with a development team to create and implement new websites
  • An ability to build web pages to match original creative vision
  • Demonstrated creative "out of the box" thinking employed to produce new ideas and solutions
  • Provide quality assurance and standards so creative vision is carried through
  • Apply design skills to traditional or “non-interactive” applications


  • Leads the development and execution of user-focused, interactive designs targeting a variety of users and target audiences while reflecting the client’s brand and business objectives
  • Manages and mentors Origin’s design and production team to deliver outstanding interactive visual projects
  • Ensures the usability, consistency, brand relevance, and functionality of the finished product
  • Thinks creatively and strategically within the demands of the client brief and budget
  • Collaborates well with a team but also works well independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Develops multiple stylistic approaches to a problem, accepts critique and collaboration, and iterates on designs
  • Builds interactive design solutions, including creating rapid prototypes and mockups as needed for user testing and product development across a wide range of technologies including: tablets (iPad, Android Tablet), smart phones (iPhone, Android phones), web (websites, browser plugins, desktop software), social (Facebook apps, Facebook API, Twitter, etc.) and many more
  • Provides design solutions across other channels for print, outdoor, environmental and branding projects
  • Utilizes an exceptional understanding of colour, responsive design, optimizing images, user controls, the capabilities of multiple platforms, and the constraints involved in designing for each
  • Maintains leading-edge knowledge in emerging technologies and participate in knowledge sharing sessions
  • Understands SEO and accessibility issues and how they relate to development
