Position Summary:

Provides communications and marketing support for major projects and special initiatives and functions as a central senior operational advisor on behalf of the Senior Director, University Communications, including providing project management within the Communications and Marketing portfolio.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Conceives, develops, and implements communications and marketing strategies and projects, in consultation with senior administrative staff and key stakeholders.

Creates and develops promotional concepts and approaches, including conceiving, planning, and producing a wide variety of promotional and/or public relations materials for institutional priorities including development of an SFU-wide Communications & Marketing plan.

Creates and develops community and media relations strategies and plans, including associated briefs, and implements in accordance with delegated authority or any necessary approvals.

Manages the redevelopment of the Communications and Marketing channels, including institutional publications, online magazines, and web sites, etc.

Conceptualizes and develops communications and marketing concepts and approaches, including developing and pitching story ideas to appropriate media, directing the development and production of supporting visual and print materials and the organization of activities.

Provides organizational, promotional and creative support to SFU community partners and community events, including those sponsored by SFU and those events in which SFU takes part.

Represents the Executive Director, University Communications as delegated.

Organizes, promotes, and provides communications support for support for community outreach, engagement, and stakeholder relations initiatives.
