Under direction from the Creative Lead, the Digital Production Assistant (DPA) creates and produces marketing andcommunications materials inprint, environmental, and digital formats within established brand standards. The DPA works collaboratively with Communication Officers to design and produce creative, engaging, and effective marketing and communicationssolutionsfor clients and the College as a whole.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Diploma in design, digital media, publishing, or relevant communications design discipline.

  • Specialized training inweb technologies an asset (e.g.,XML, AJAX, XHTML, CSS).

  • Minimally one (1) year of recent design and production experience in anintegrated environment working with print, environmental, and digital design.Preferencemay be givento candidates with balanced experience in all threeareas

  • An equivalentcombinationof educationand experience may beconsidered.

  • Experienceworking in a post-secondaryeducation environment an asset.

  • Proficiency in creative design and illustration for a wide range of media and applications.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and related design, illustration, and motion graphics software (i.e., InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Lightroom).

  • Experience working with content management systems such as Cascade Server and email marketing tools such as Industry Mailout.

  • Proficiency in the useof computer software applicationsincluding word processing(MS Word), spreadsheets (Excel), andpresentation software (PowerPoint, Keynote).

  • Basic prepress skills, including colourcorrection and pre-flighting.

  • Familiarity with schedulingsoftware and workflow management software.

  • Knowledge ofW3C guidelines as it applies to web accessibility an asset.

  • Knowledge ofbrand and marketing principles.

  • Experienceworking in a Mac environment.

  • Experience with large format printing, cutting, and mounting of display materials.

  • Knowledge and experience working with and designing templates.

  • Ability to communicate effectively inEnglish, both verbally and written.

  • Ability to produce creative and high-quality design solutions to meet project needs on time and within budget.

  • Effective organizational skills and a highlevel of attention to detail.

  • Ability to multi-task and manage multipleprojects in afast paced work environment.

  • Ability to work well under pressure withfrequent interruptions, cope with a demanding workload, and to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team; willing to work with others to resolve problems and find innovative solutions. Able to exercise judgment and initiative to identify and respond to issues before they become problematic.

  • Ability to exercise tact, judgment and diplomacy.

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with some supervision.

  • A logical thinker,who understands information architecture as it applies to large and complex web and print documents (e.g., College Calendar, catalogues, websites/portals).

  • Ability to work within a file and digital asset management structure, with good file management and troubleshooting techniques.

  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the capacity to workharmoniouslywith others.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Enthusiastically stays current on industry trends, new skills, and best practices.

  • Ability to perform duties within established policies, practices andstandards.

Employee Group: CUPE

Hours & Days of Work: 8:30 a.m. - 5:15 p.m. Monday to Friday; however, hours may vary according to the needs of the department. This position is subject to the compressed workweek.
