This position is responsible for overseeing and managing corporate and campaign websites, coordinating, researching, supporting and leading web, media and social media projects; planning digital campaigns for social consumption, crafting memorable brand experiences for web and mobile, developing innovative content strategies that enhance engagement.
Activities:
- Reporting to the Manager of Communications, key activities include:
- Oversee the development and day-to-day management of all digital assets and media/online strategies
- Manage, in conjunction with digital media staff, daily maintenance and support for ajax.ca and portals including: Ajaxlibrary.ca; visitajax.ca; Ajaxyouth.ca; Ajaxfirstforbusiness.ca and Customer Service
- Develop and design short term and long term campaign related websites using open source content management systems including WordPress, Joomla and Drupal
- Translate ideas and designs into digital experiences that engage, and meet corporate objectives and goals within aggressive timelines
- Coordinate the Town’s social media efforts on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and other relevant social media channels.
- Coordinate high profile social media projects, campaigns and engagement initiatives, including outlining timing, tactics and overall strategy
- Investigate and research available software options to help increase the Town’s online engagement strategies (i.e. CoveritLive, Virtual Town Halls, Polling, Online chats)
- Write, edit and distribute the Town’s electronic newsletter (Ajax E-News)
- Produce and edit videos including slideshows, General Government Committee recordings and media clips using non-linear editing software for distribution on web and social media channels
- Manage, in conjunction with digital media staff, daily maintenance and support of the Town’s Corporate Intranet
- Act as Town liaison and main point of contact with 3rd party website vendor
- Provide graphic design support through the creating of posters, flyers, print ads, web ads, web banners, presentation graphics and logo/brand development for internal and external campaigns
Qualifications:
- diploma in Public Relations, Journalism, Graphic Design, Multimedia, Web Marketing, Advertising, Business and/or Bachelor of Arts/Science/Information Technology
- four to six years professional work experience in digital media with extensive knowledge of web design and social media monitoring and measurement
- three years of business, marketing, advertising, and/or public relations experience
- proven leadership skills and minimum two years supervisory experience
- significant experience with Microsoft Office products
- significant experience with HTML/XML/ASP/.NET/PHP/SQL/CSS/CMS/MySQL/Javascript/JQUERY
- extensive knowledge of open source content management systems including WordPress
- knowledge of Linux Web Server Management using Cpanel
- understanding of Search Engine Optimization and strategies, techniques and best practices
- demonstrated ability to coordinate, edit and/or produce videos, podcasts and PowerPoint presentations
- experience managing special corporate projects
- excellent organizational and time management skills
- ability to provide a current criminal reference /vulnerable sector check satisfactory to the Town of Ajax
- valid Class ‘G’ driver’s licence with clean abstract
