Digital Communications Specialist

Come and showcase your exceptional digital media skills and develop creative communication products to support the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services communications plans and initiatives.

What can I expect to do in this role?

  • Lead and manage assigned creative projects, including planning, designing, developing, implementing and evaluating.
  • Contribute to the development of project schedules, priorities, timelines and milestone reporting requirements.
  • Work with branch colleagues and clients to create content (including text, video, photo, graphic and multimedia) within demanding timeframes.
  • Lead and support digital communication initiatives with a focus on internal platforms (e.g. digital displays, e-newsletters, intranet content).
  • Provide advice and support the use of social media content and tools, and digital and web technologies, including the Newsroom, InsideOPS and Google Analytics.
  • Liaise directly with ministry senior staff to seek direction, provide advice and develop accessible, user-friendly and cost-effective creative products.
  • Provide video production and photography and editing services.

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge

You have:

  • Advanced knowledge of digital media and creative design, social media tools and Internet trends and technologies to create informative, attractive and resonant content for the ministry's websites and channels.
  • Knowledge and expertise using web tools such as Google Analytics and Ontario government corporate tools like Newsroom.
  • Knowledge of current technologies, trends and best practices in the areas of videography, digital communications, social media and print/web design to ensure optimum use of digital media opportunities.
  • Advanced knowledge of design/videography/photography principles, equipment and software such as Adobe products.
  • Ability to acquire and apply knowledge of ministry programs, objectives and goals to provide advice and recommendations to program areas.

Communication (oral and written), Interpersonal and Presentation skills

  • You have demonstrated ability to clarify client needs, provide counsel, edit web content and produce communications products.
  • You can work across diverse teams and clients, and manage conflicting views on design.
  • You can present drafts and final work to clients and management.

Other essential skills

  • You possess research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • You have strong planning and project management skills.

Salary Range:$1,373.19 - $1,680.25 per week

Note:
