We have an exciting opportunity in our Employee Support Solutions (ESS) line of business on the Marketing and Product Team as a Communications Specialist. The position will allow you to apply your strategic communications expertise to elevate the voice of an Executive Vice President (EVP) and other senior executives within Morneau Shepell’s ESS line of business. We need someone who can engage and influence Morneau Shepell employees, partners, customers, and prospects to support key business priorities and advance our senior leaders’ and the company’s thought leadership, service offerings, and  reputation globally.

Reporting to the Manager, ESS Marketing, the Communications Specialist’s responsibilities include:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create an executive communications strategy and develop written and/or visual or digital communications that reinforces the EVPs and other senior leaders’ thought leadership, the company's viewpoints and products, our customers' successes, and our teams' achievements in compelling, creative ways.
    • This could include content across multiple formats — writing content for speeches, presentations, internal emails, LinkedIn, blogs, video scripts, among other materials.
  • Create a library of anecdotes, quotes, and video clips for potential future use in communications materials.
  • Create a content calendar of topics for senior leaders to speak about and share on social media – especially LinkedIn - and conduct research to support the creation of executive communications materials across multiple platforms.
  • Manage the EVP’s LinkedIn account to publish original and company content, share related information, and connect with individuals and organizations.
  • Lead and/or contribute as needed to internal and external communications and content creation to support our product and services suites, team initiatives, and other pieces as needed.
  • Provide recommendations on appropriate communication tools and delivery channels.
  • Take into account Morneau Shepell’s global employee population in the development and implementation of communication strategies and tactics, when appropriate.
  • Monitor and evaluate results of communications programs, using specific metrics to track progress and insights for continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Outstanding writing, editing, and proofreading skills with 3-5 years’ experience in internal and executive communications.
  • Proven experience in interviewing, communicating with, and negotiating with senior executives in a fast-paced environment as writer, editor, or relevant role.
  • Experience with digital tools for publishing and sharing content on social media and blogs, and comfortability in representing an executives’ personal brand.
  • Understanding of content development and editorial factors.
  • Abilities in planning and coordinating people and operations.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, and ability to work on tight deadlines and high volume of projects.
  • Familiarity with basic video editing and presentation platforms.
  • A proactive, can-do attitude (you are always brimming with ideas, are comfortable turning on a dime to handle things that come up, you think about the big picture).
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to meet deadlines.
  • Tact and discretion to work with employees at all levels.
  • Proven analytical skills.
  • Interest in and awareness of human resource industry and mental health in the workplace landscape.
  • BS/BA in journalism, communications, or relevant field.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) an asset.
  • Candidates will participate in a timed writing and editing test and submit examples of past work.
