As MHPM continues to attract exciting project opportunities, we have an immediate need for a Communications Specialist to join our Corporate Marketing Team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering both internal and external company communications, maintaining corporate standards and brand messaging consistency. External communications will include: preparing presentations, performing media relations activities, developing marketing and sales content as well as creating strategic and responsive proposals. Internal communications will involve delivering important information to all MHPM staff using a variety of media. The Communications Specialist will report to the Marketing Manager to support personnel in all regions and functions across the company including the Vice President of Development and the President.
Our ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys handling a number of challenging and exciting projects. The successful candidate will utilize excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to build strong relationships both internally and externally.
- Responsible for external communication activities (news releases, articles, white papers) that support and enhance national brand awareness
- Working with proposal writers in the organization, lead the development and organization of core content for the use in professional, high-quality, compelling proposals that effectively educate and inspire action on the part of customers and prospects
- Contribute to national and key strategic proposals as required
- Provide flawless final editing ensuring accuracy, conciseness, and effectiveness
- Manage the President’s speaking engagements, submission draft text and presentation production
- Maintain internal communication activities (internal newsletters, SharePoint postings, email) to support and enhance company culture
- Create news releases, articles and content to promote MHPM and increase national awareness
- Develop content for marketing materials as needed
- Ensure that the brand and messaging are consistently applied to internal and external documents
- Liaise with and manage third party suppliers and partners to effectively deliver communications in a cost effective manner
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience
- Exceptional business and creative research, writing, editing and proofreading skills
- Knowledge of the proposal development process and familiarity with Request for Proposal (RFP) documents
- Self-starter with superior project management skills; able to prioritize tasks, track projects and meet urgent deadlines
- Advanced working knowledge of MS Office specifically expert level MS Word and MS PowerPoint
- Professional graphics and desktop publishing skills for in house graphics and design would be an asset
- Ability to express ideas and concepts using both text and graphics in a compelling manner
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Bilingualism considered an asset
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications or Marketing (or an equivalent combination of academic and practical experience)
