Communications Assistant

Take your communications career to the next level as you deliver superior communications and marketing support for the Peel District School Board Communications and Community Relations Support Services team.

Reporting to the Senior Communications Officer, in this one-year contract, you will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of communications support for various student success initiatives, as well as the coordination of projects and special events. Your communications and organizational skills will be essential as you create materials in support of communication and marketing strategies, apply social media strategies, communicate initiatives to Board staff and students, and plan and implement events for students and teachers.

As a Communications Assistant, you will also play a key role in managing project timelines, creating presentations, and writing news releases to pitch story ideas to news media. Your ability to excel in a diversity of communications roles will shine as you manage sections of the Board’s website, write and edit website content, coordinate external graphic design, video production and other services to enhance the website, and perform other duties, as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

As a Communications Assistant, you will be able to apply your:

  • Community college diploma related to Public Relations, Communications or a related discipline
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience using PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint and other web development software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent research, note-taking and proofreading abilities
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse school community and/or work environment
