Position Summary:

The Communications and Youth Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for providing program coordination to YCI’s Youth Climate Action strategy, contributing to the overall success of a dynamic and growing Climate Action portfolio. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator and creative designer who works well in a fast paced, highly collaborative environment. An understanding of non-profits and community-level projects including climate issues, youth programming and advocacy is desirable.

Responsibilities include:

  • Communications Planning and Implementation: Contribute to the development and execution of a communications strategy and implementation plan for YCI’s Climate Action portfolio including the branding, positioning and promotion of YCI’s Climate Action programs; support the creation and delivery of social media and digital marketing campaigns and internal reporting; provide support for the development and maintenance of the YCI Climate Action website and assist with planning and facilitation for successful event implementation.
  • Marketing Content and Materials Creation: Support the design and development of communications content to capture youth experiences and actions to share with a broad audience; develop communication materials for print, web, social media and digital marketing to showcase and promote the Climate Action programs.
  • Recruitment Planning and Implementation: Contribute to the development and execution of a youth recruitment strategy and implementation plan for YCI’s Climate Action portfolio; conduct targeted promotional activities and relationship development with relevant stakeholders; support youth recruitment and onboarding.
  • Business Development: Support the growth of the YCI Climate Action funding portfolio and granting options for youth participants; support business development planning and processes including new partnership acquisition, portfolio expansion and proposal development.

Skills and Experience:

You are a self-starter with 3-5 years of progressive experience in communications, marketing and/or recruitment roles; you are passionate and eager to contribute to dynamic youth programming that is catalyzing local climate action; you have strong written and verbal communication skills and can draft and edit materials for diverse audiences; you can see the big picture and contribute to YCI’s Youth Climate Action strategy while maintaining attention to detail; you understand the youth climate action marketplace and have experience with youth recruitment and public engagement campaigns; you are proficient using the Adobe Creative Suite, Constant Contact and WordPress; you have experience in graphic design and the development of communication materials for both internal and external partners and you can support meetings and events outside of regular working hours on evenings and weekends as needed; you have experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds.
