Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative (Y2Y) is a joint Canada-U.S. not-for-profit organization with a mission to connect and protect wildlife habitat from Yellowstone to Yukon so people and nature can thrive. We are the only organization dedicated to securing the long-term ecological health of this entire region. We take a scientific and collaborative approach to conservation and highlight and focus on local issues that affect the region. Position Description
Yellowstone to Yukon is seeking a professional to be its next communications and marketing coordinator.This entry-level position will work collaboratively with staff to communicate in ways that support the advancement of core organizational and programmatic goals and objectives.
The location for this position is flexible but those living within, or near to, the Yellowstone to Yukon region in western North America are preferred. This individual will report to the senior communications and digital engagement manager and will assume a key position working with Y2Y program staff and other teams, such as communications, development, science and policy, as needed.
Responsibilities
The communications and marketing coordinator will:
- Assist a diverse group of staff to develop and implement communications strategy, messaging, talking points, campaigns and content that advances the Y2Y vision;
- Help produce and schedule content for Y2Y social media channels as well as monitor, moderate and maintain online communities and foster conversation;
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in program teams, development, science and policy to create content that supports advancement of core organizational and programmatic goals and objectives with relevant audiences, publishing through digital platforms, including quarterly newsletter, blog, and social media channels;
- Proactively seek earned media opportunities to elevate the Y2Y mission, work and brand;
- Research and identify target audiences;
- Work collaboratively with partner organizations;
- Other related duties as assigned.
Candidate Profile
· Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience, such as journalism, content creation, digital marketing, visual communications, brand management, or public relations.
Considered an Asset
- Experience creating graphics, maps or infographics;
- Experience with video editing;
- Experience with marketing activities such as social media advertising, media buying, and designing, implementing and monitoring campaigns for new supporter acquisition and events;
- Experience with writing conversion copy;
- Strong initiative, organizational skills and experience working to deadline.
Terms of Employment
- The location for this full-time (37.5 hours/week) position is flexible but is ideally based in the Idaho, Montana, British Columbia or Alberta portions of the Yellowstone to Yukon region;
- Salary is commensurate with experience, ranging from $50,000-60,000.
Term of employment will be for one year and may be evaluated for possible extension beyond that date.
