This is your opportunity to help transform one of Canada's largest and most trusted companies and join the Digital Services Customer Experience group at Great-West Life. We’re an innovative, agile and fast-paced team within one of Canada's largest insurance and financial institutions.

We are looking for a bright and energetic editor with a track record for action who will act as an Assistant Editor on the Digital Services Customer Experience team across Great-West Life, Canada Life and London Life.

Based in Toronto or London, the successful candidate must have experience in writing, editing, creating and curating content, with a strong focus on technical writing for digital.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop digital copy based on current trends aligned with the overall digital content strategy to drive desired outcomes/conversions
  • Write on-brand copy for digital-focused content that’s passionate, original, informative and thought provoking
  • Write copy using plain language principles and help distill complex insurance/financial/technical content and jargon into user-friendly language
  • Act as an expert in both long-form and real-time content creation
  • Strong understanding of SEO strategy and principles, including inclusion of appropriate keywords and terms
  • Contribute to the creation and development of online content, write and edit copy and secure appropriate approvals
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of governance guidelines for website content
  • Regularly review and provide input on content workflows for efficiencies and effectiveness
  • Work closely with other teams to maintain site standards with regards to content
  • Review and analyze digital analytics to measure success and performance
  • Complete daily and weekly fixes to the site
  • Publish frequent updates of fresh, relevant content to the site

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Post-secondary degree in English, communications, journalism or media and information
  • Excellent marketing and/or technical writing skills with a particular emphasis on digital
  • At least three years of relevant online content editing and copy-writing experience
  • Self-motivated, organized and able to multi-task and prioritize jobs to meet deadlines
  • Must enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment
  • Strong project management and attention to detail
  • Thrives in a culture of curiosity, creativity, collaboration, speed, innovation, excellence and a fun work environment
  • Experience working with content management systems, including the ability to understand web analytics and graphics software (i.e. Photoshop)
  • Familiarity with software development is an asset
  • Good understanding of SEO, social media and traffic metrics
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with a strong grasp of CP Style
  • Keen ability to think visually and apply graphic design elements to storytelling
