The Digital Commerce department has an immediate opening for the position of Website Developer - Digital Commerce, reporting to the Senior Product Manager, Digital Delivery Platform.

The Website Developer/Designer is responsible for creating and implementing creative strategies/elements that will enhance the online shopping experience, drive conversion and increase the average order value of CineplexStore.com and BoutiqueCineplex.com. This person will assist in all facets of the company’s online sales cycle including the development of website content and appearance, third party supplier relationships, and the overall effectiveness and financial results of the e-tailing effort, for both packaged movies and electronic sell-through product. They will need to be well versed in understanding our customers and interacting with the various functional areas within Cineplex to deliver the desired on-line customer experience. They should be passionate about movies and experienced in the e-commerce business to ensure we deliver on our promise.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Site Navigation Best Practices

    • Page/Category structure and flow.

    • Develop site navigation by categorizing content; funneling traffic through content.

  • On-site search best practices.

  • Recommendation engine best practices.

  • Web analytics

    • Tagging structure, tracking results, trouble shooting, making recommendations.

  • Develop SEO best practices within design/programming/registering with search engines and implementing online page elements.

  • Video

    • Editing, posting, player competencies and best practices.

  • Social Sites

    • Develop and design creative interactions across all social sites.

    • Best practices and recommendations to be utilized and communicated.

  • Knowledge of how to develop e-commerce platforms across multiple screens and devices.

  • Reporting/Process creation

    • Build reports as needed and design processes around job function.

    • Ability to present reports/processes to senior stakeholders for buy-in.

    • Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.

  • Creative Design

    • Plan site design by clarifying goals; designing functionality.

    • Develop site content and graphics by coordinating with copywriters and marketing; designing images, icons, banners, audio enhancements, etc.

    • Design and develop innovative new web functions. Ensuring cross-platform/browser compatibility.

  • Deep understanding of User Interface and User Experience design best practices and standards.

  • Daily Maintenance

    • Monitoring performance and results; identifying and evaluating improvement options; introducing new technology; maintaining links.

    • Maintain site appearance by developing and enforcing content and display standards; editing submissions.

    • Diagnose and repair existing web components.

    • Understand and translate complex business requirements into effective technical solutions.

  • Programming

    • Strong knowledge and vast experience in web front end technologies including JavaScript, Ajax, HTML, CSS, jQuery, jQueryUI, Prototype framework.

    • Good understanding of XML.

    • Deep understanding and development experience with handwritten JavaScript code.

    • Become fluent in the back-end development environment.

    • Working knowledge of various computer platforms: Windows, MAC OS X, iOS, Android; General understanding of other mainstream languages - iOS, Android are bonuses.

    • Multimedia Content Development.

  • Communication/Other

    • Collaborate/build relationships with other developers internally and third party.

    • Thrive in a very fast paced, dynamic environment.

    • Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize.

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Understanding of ATG would be an advantage.

Education & Experience Required

  • Must have a degree/diploma in Web Design / Computer Sciences/Computer Engineering
  • Minimum 4 - 6 years of database-driven Web development experience
  • Minimum 2 years of PHP development experience
  • Proficient with Illustrator, Flash, and Photoshop
  • A self-starter with a hands-on orientation

  • Experience using Google analytics, Site Catalyst and Excel reporting
