housing, support services (including employment, health and wellness, and corrections
chaplaincy), and housing services, including tenant support and low income housing, to those in
need.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director, Communications and Marketing, the Web & Digital Marketing
Coordinator is responsible for: i) providing support in integrating new media into both internal
and external marketing; ii) developing, operating and ensuring optimal site performance for all
websites; iii) managing the day-to-day digital media presence of The Mustard Seed.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. New Media

Preparing e-fundraising campaigns, test plans and creative assignments ensuring proper
online messaging and work with service providers to ensure optimal performance of all
digital marketing campaigns;
Working closely with the development teams to create content for The Mustard Seed
website and social media platforms with the dual goals of 'bringing visitors back' to the
website on a regular basis and to support the growth of interactive revenue;
Staying informed on online fundraising innovations and best practices;
Ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards of CRA, CMA, PIPEDA, CCS, and
Imagine Canada Ethical Fundraising Code;
Developing and nurturing strategic relationships with service providers to ensure
integration with direct-mail marketing, online advertising, branding, technology
integration, and market positioning.

2. Website Coordination

Managing content and administering website operations with excellence by ensuring
optimal site performance;
Tracking websites activity; Coordinating The Mustard Seed’s internet activity especially in the areas of fundraising;
Providing graphic design for online activities, including campaigns, banners, and events;
Developing and nurturing strategic relationships with Internet partners for content
management, integration with direct-mail marketing, online advertising, branding,
technology integration, and market positioning;
Coordinating closely with the IT Manager to ensure infrastructure for internet is
updated and managed effectively to achieve connectivity and seamless operation;
Researching and keeping up-to-date on industry trends;
Providing effective internal and external communication and education regarding web
site activities.

3. Digital Media

Managing and moderating The Mustard Seed’s social media presence on Facebook,
Twitter, YouTube and The Mustard Seed blog;
Overseeing social media presences;
Providing recommendations from online and social media marketing campaigns using
web-analytics tools;
Assisting in the tracking and reporting of all new media marketing activity;
Creating new media content (video, text, audio, contests);
Developing and executing a winning digital content and engagement strategy as well as
development, testing and deployment of new digital initiatives;
Writing ‘must-click’ headlines and craft compelling content;
Updating content for Social Media channels, eNewsletters;
Editing and writing web copy.
4. Other duties as assigned, such as:

Contributing to print production projects and the newsletter, when needed;
Assisting the Director Communications & Marketing with other initiatives and projects
when requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

A passion to be part of ending homelessness in Alberta;
Computer science degree or Communications/marketing degree or equivalent level of
experience with marketing/communications experience/training;
Formal training in web development;
Five to seven years of directly related experience:
Extensive experience with front-end and back-end website development and the ability
to read, write and edit code, including but not limited to: HTML, CSS, PHP, XML;
Knowledge and experience with website content management systems, especially
MODX and Joomla;
Knowledge and experience with InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver,
MailChimp, Wufoo;
Knowledge and experience with website analytics software Experience with leading and executing website audits, from both user-experience and
technical standpoints;
Digital media/online fundraising experience is an asset;
Experience in the management and integration of databases using MySQL and Raiser’s
Edge is an asset;
Campaign analysis experience is an asset;
Ability to quickly learn new applications with a passion to continual learning emerging
technology;
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and a passion for engaging donors
and sponsors;
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple
projects and drive for results;
Self-starter, team player and works well with cross-functional teams.

Other information

Full-time permanent position Monday to Friday.
Located in downtown Calgary.
Office environment with long hours of sitting and working at the computer.
Employment Security Check is required.
As The Mustard Seed is a Christian ministry, we require our employees to be in
agreement and to sign our statement of faith.
Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other
