Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Status: PFT (Permanent Full Time)

POSITION:

The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation is one of the most dynamic, innovative and successful foundations in Canada and raises over $80 million annually to support breakthrough research, patient care and education programs of Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, a recognized international leader in the fight against cancer and one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world. The Manager of Strategic Initiatives provides ongoing management and direction for The Shoppers Drug Mart Weekend to End Women’s Cancers, which is the largest and most successful multi-day walk for women’s cancers in North America. Reporting to the Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives, the successful candidate will be an integral member of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation team and work closely with the Vice President, Strategic Initiatives. This position will support the development, implementation, stewardship and brand positioning of The Shoppers Drug Mart Weekend to End Women’s Cancers with the primary focus and deliverable of achieving targeted annual net revenue. The successful candidate will project manage and function as the key point person in liaising with multiple stakeholder audiences including external consultants, key corporate partners, team leaders, players, and internal stakeholders in order to ensure the financial success of this event.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Passion for our vision To Conquer Cancer in Our Lifetime

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree program in Marketing or Commerce required

  • Completion of MBA or post-grad in fundraising or event management preferred

  • 8 or more years of B2B or consumer sales/marketing or not-for-profit mass marketing or corporate development experience required

  • Demonstrated experience in new business development and achieving targets

  • Proven ability and specific experience building relationships, communicating with and influencing senior executives, external stakeholders and partners

  • Results oriented, entrepreneurial, self-motivated and willingness to take initiative

  • Highly organized with demonstrated experience in project management, problem solving and multi-tasking

  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills with proven ability to present to C level executives

  • Established strategic planning skills with demonstrated ability to lead the development and execution of supporting programs

  • Strong business acumen including budgeting, financial planning and well developed research and analytical skills

  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and manage others, i.e., volunteers and staff involved in event planning and fundraising.

  • Detail and accuracy oriented with a high sense of urgency, tact, diplomacy, quality, acuity and memory recall

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)

  • Strong knowledge of computer applications specifically Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and Raiser’s Edge applications required

  • Ability to commit to activities and events occurring on weeknights, early mornings and weekends
