The Gastown Business Improvement Society is looking for a motivated, experienced technology-savy communications and social media specialist to join our team.

Responsibilities:

Create and manage content and brand building strategies including original web articles, paid placements, partnerships to increase exposure of in-house content and newsletters.

Establish relationships within the neighbourhood to drive stories and develop content that engages multiple audiences.

Create, curate and manage all published content (images, video and written) in accordance with content strategy.

Refine the brand voice and ensure consitency in messaging and demonstration of values across all social media platforms.

Manage and maintain the Gastown.org web site.

Manage the Facebook, Twitter, Instagram social streams, posting daily content and interactions.

Source and engage social influencers for partnership opportunities.

Work closely with the Executive Director and Marketing Committee on strategic planning and assist in all other marketing activities and  initiatives.

Qualifications:

Post secondary graduate with 3-5 years specializing in communications, social media or marketing.

Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills with focus on storytelling and content-focused marketing.

Ability to create engaging and sharable content across multiple platforms.

Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a team as well as independently with minimal supervision.

Strong interviewing and presentation skills.

Demonstrated proficiency with Google Analytics, SEO, social media management, CMS platforms, Photoshop and Microsoft Office applications.
