We currently have an opportunity for a Marketing Communications Specialist to work in our Richmond Head Office.

What you will do

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  1. Account Management: Develops strong working relationships with stakeholders to translate marketing communications strategies into viable creative concepts in collaboration with team members. Creates tools and best practices allowing TU Group and its business units to communicate effectively to employees, partners & customers. Works with stakeholders to develop and implement client Creative Briefs to help business units achieve their objectives. Uses project management techniques to ensure delivery of projects on time and according to plan. Coordinates with other departments, such as IS to ensure that final pieces are delivered as intended.  Mentors junior writers/editors and delegates tasks as required.
  2. Copywriting: Develops effective & imaginative copy concepts that support the client’s objectives. Develops written content for a variety of projects, tasks and deliverables, including advertising and promotional copy, internal and external corporate communications, websites and print materials. This includes a wide range of collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, training materials, RFP’s and web copy.  Ensures TU Group standards for written content and copy in all marketing communications print and web initiatives are adhered to. Ensures brand integrity for all lines of business.  Ensures content and textual messaging is consistent across and/or within all lines of business, across electronic and print media. Checks copy for consistencies in overall copy presentation in terms of copy style, font and format, product information and performance accuracy, in addition to the regular proofreading concerns of spelling, grammar, punctuation and adherence to established proofreading guidelines.
  3. Training: Working closely with product and business development teams developing training materials and platforms that engage our partners and provide consistent, effective learning opportunities related to our products and services.  Working closely with other internal teams, assists with developing training materials and platforms that ensure our employees have the information they need to perform their jobs and service our partners and customers.
  4. Public Relations: Works with team members to research and develop opportunities to build media and industry contacts in support of channel marketing plans and corporate social responsibility initiatives.  Initiates and implements activities in alignment with communications plans, as well as in response to day-to-day needs of the client. Activities could include: managing corporate events, collaborating with the business development teams to support tradeshow and industry conferences, developing customer campaigns, developing speaking opportunities and sponsorships, as well as seeking innovative, new customer outreach programs.

What you will bring

  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Communications or Marketing required.
  • 5+ years of experience in copywriting, marketing, or public relations.
  • Ability to manage multiple, diverse priorities for a variety of clients. Skilled in taking a project from concept to completion.
  • Organized with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent knowledge of copywriting principals and English grammar.
  • Ability to articulate thoughts/ideas clearly and with commitment.
  • Ability to turn brainstorms and sales feedback into forceful messages.
  • Proven ability to generate creative ideas and solve problems.
  • Understanding of basic marketing concepts and strategies.
  • Skilled using the MS office suite and web-based technologies including Internet marketing experience.
  • Experience using development tools associated with the field of marketing communications, such as desktop publishing software, content management systems, and customer relationship management software.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to build cooperative working relationships both internally and externally.

  • Experience developing, delivering, and evaluating training courses at all levels in an organization, including ‘train-the-trainer’ courses an asset.
