Carpet One Canada (a CCA affiliate, has an excellent opportunity in their Burlington, Ontario Office for a Retail Graphic Designer.  This position contributes to a range of marketing, advertising, and public relations projects. Projects include: design and execution of promotional campaigns that include: flyers, POP, newspaper and magazine advertising; as well as collateral, web graphics, fixture graphics, Power Point presentations.  In addition, production skills are required for flyer and other print customizations.  Must be able to work with outside printers for file submissions, proofing and other related tasks. This position will also develop customized ads and unique consumer brochures that add to the customer experience and benefit the membership of Carpet One Canada. This position also provides business convention support through onsite convention photography (if possessed of that skill set) and graphic design when needed.  Specific responsibilities include:

-Working independently, responsible for the design of creative solutions from concept to completion.

-Establishes the conceptual and stylish direction of project as well as generation of comps, creating layouts and final artwork.

-Attends internal meetings to understand member needs and market changes to ensure creative projects are executed with success.

-Produces collateral material, environmental graphics - POP, magazines and newspaper advertising - ROP, corporate identity and branding, multimedia interfaces and presentations.

-Identifies new design opportunities through attendance at various workshops, courses, conferences and conventions to be applied in the retail environment.

-Ensures quality control through approval of proofs, press checks and review of materials.

-Investigates and suggests new computer programs and technologies that benefit the department and quality/effectiveness of work.

The position requires Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or similar program, plus 2 - 5 years of experience working in a graphic arts capacity.  Retail experience a plus.  Must have experience working with Adobe Creative Suites including: InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop; experience in HTML and CSS is also required. Must work with the Apple Macintosh platform and also have a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and uploading and downloading to FTP servers. Must have solid time management skills, and the ability to work on multiple projects. Solid communication and interpersonal skills are required to explain the creative rationale for executed work. Knowledge of marketing strategies and retail practices is highly desirable. Experience working in an in-house agency or external advertising agency is highly desired.  Photography and social media skills are also highly desirable.
