Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Public Relations, the Public Relations & Digital Media Specialist will be tasked with assisting the Director of PR in conceptualizing, designing and executing innovative media (including but not limited to social media) outreach for The Travel Corporation brands including but not limited to: Trafalgar, Insight Vacations, Contiki Holidays, Uniworld , Red Carnation Hotels and the TreadRight Foundation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proactively pitch and secure consumer media placementsacross print, broadcast, video and online with current media contacts and new ones
  • Secure travel industry media coverage and interviews with brand Presidents and executive team members
  • Write and edit press releases, pitches, media materials, online content pieces and other travel brand related written materials
  • Source, nurture and expand relationships with travel industry media, consumer and lifestyle media and influencers
  • Handle social and digital media under the direction of the PR Director and Marketing teams including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for the various brands
  • Assist Director of PR and Marketing Departments with creating and executing brand launches and media events
  • Develop and execute media and/or social media strategies and campaigns with the various brands
  • Identify and stay current on travel industry and lifestyle trends with the changing media landscape
  • Monitor and measure the success of PR activities and create coverage reports and update media lists
  • Assist PR Director & VP Global Strategic Partnerships with partnership activities

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with brand marketing teams both regional and global
  • Stay current with new technology and trends in the digital and social media space
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Communications, Journalism, English or other PR and Social Media related disciplines
  • Must have solid relationship building skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to provide writing samples
  • Proven online and social media skills. Must be able to provide evidence of social media experience and how you have utilized it to grow brand recognition
  • Proven ability to multi-task, detail oriented and highly organized
  • Previous experience in Public Relations with established media contacts
  • Event planning experience is desirable
  • Demonstrated experience with working with sponsors, suppliers and partners collaboratively and with multiple stakeholders
  • A love of travel and knowledge of the travel industry would be desirable
  • A passion and drive to succeed with an ability to challenge the status quo and bring creative ideas to fruition
  • Ability work independently and be a team player
