Press Associate contract

Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies is a dynamic cutting-edge human rights organization based in Toronto.  Our primary focus is to counter anti-semitism, hatred and discrimination and promote the values of freedom, democracy and human rights. Our trademark programs like Tour for Humanity (www.tourforhumanity.com) and Freedom Day are second to none in terms of diversity training and the promotion of unity and friendship. Holocaust studies are primary for us and we are strong advocates for the State of Israel and the common values it shares with Canada.

We are seeking a smart and talented Press Secretary (Entry Level) who can assist in our continued effort to develop relationships with the media, publicize news releases and develop communication strategies that help promote the values for which we stand.

The candidate will have at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field – communications, marketing, political science, for example – as well as an above average grasp of proper writing skills.  A degree or experience in journalism would be deemed an asset.  Photo editing and desktop publishing experience is a plus.  A well rounded portfolio of press releases and articles showcasing their experience would be an asset.  A demonstrated ability to manage and promote social networking platforms, websites and other technologically advanced mediums is required.

This position requires a strong and demonstrable understanding of the issues with which this organization engages. This is an entry level position for a six month renewable contract at a salary range of approximately $30,000 per annum.
